November 18, 2019

Dear Friends,

Following many years of inspired and inspiring service, Nur Azad Mangold is stepping down as North American Vice President for Kinship. Nur Azad has served with tremendous dedication and leaves a legacy in Kinship that is palpable. I am pleased to announce that Nur Azad will be succeeded by Rabia Povich, a dynamic worker for the Message who has long worked for the realization of the oneness of the human family. Please join me in extending deep gratitude to Nur Azad and a warm welcome to Rabia.

Yours ever,
Bawa

The World Wide Message Council is comprised of the Vice Presidents of the Inayati Order’s Six Activities, namely the Esoteric School, Kinship, Universal Worship, Healing, Ziraat, and the Knighthood of Purity. This group advises the Pir, mutually collaborates, and coordinates the activities of the Activities to galvanize our global movement.

Rabia Povich was initiated into the Sufi path by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan in 1975. Currently she serves as an Inayati Order Representative, co-leading a center in Charlottesville, VA. Rabia is a retreat guide, a Cheraga in the Universal Worship and a leader in the Kinship Activity. Motivated to advance the ideals of justice and equity with compassion and understanding, Rabia is engaged with local interfaith clergy to help address systemic racism. Her professional background spanned more than 25 years in public policy, where she utilized advocacy, research, communication, and organizational development skills to reduce poverty and injustice while increasing opportunity for marginalized communities. Rabia served on the Inayati Order Board of Trustees for five years and later helped actualize Pir Zia’s inspiration, Seven Pillars House of Wisdom. Rabia and her husband Zakir Amin share life and love in Charlottesville.

Along with his wife, Zarifah Kadian, Nur Azad Mangold is a co-director of the Baraka Center of Washington, DC. The Center offers teachings on Sufi principles and practices and meditation for individuals and groups. He is also a psychotherapist in private practice, primarily working with couples, families in crisis, and young men and women who lack a clear and purposeful direction in life. Nur Azad served as the North American Vice President of Kinship for over 10 years and has recently been appointed as a member of the Abode of the Message’s Board of Directors.
