Discover the essence of Inayatiyya Sufism in our concise four-week course, “Welcome to the Inayatiyya.” This program is crafted to provide a comprehensive introduction, inviting both newcomers and seasoned seekers to explore this mystical lineage.

Topics include:

  • March 5th, The Source and Goal  w/ Jacob Dominicus – Uncover the core principles of Inayatiyya Sufism, exploring the connection between the individual and the universal soul, and aligning your life with spiritual wisdom.
  • March 12th, Universal Wisdom of Sacred Traditions w/ Omid Safi – Cultivate appreciation and respect for the prophetic expression of the wisdom of unity throughout time. 
  • March 19th, History of Inayatiyya Sufism w/ Nizam un Nisa Ayeda Husain – Travel through the history of the Inayatiyya lineage, from its origins to the present, understanding its development and key teachings.
  • March 26th, Path of Initiation and Discipleship w/ LatifaNoor Anderson – Delve into the practical aspects of the Sufi path, exploring initiation, discipleship, and foundational practices.

Embark on this transformative four-week journey with seasoned teachers from the Inayatiyya. Come deepen your understanding and connection to the Inayatiyya Sufi tradition through a unique opportunity to explore spiritual wisdom and personal growth.

Classes are on Tuesdays, March 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th from 6:00 -7:15 pm New York Time.

Welcome to the Inner School is open to ashiqs, murids and anyone with sincere interest and curiosity about the Inayatiyya. 

This course requires advanced registration and provides video recordings if you are unable to attend every class. A suggested tuition of $48 ($12 per class) is recommended for the whole course and a reduced tuition price of $32 ($8 per class). Donations of any amount are also welcome, in lieu of tuition. Attending all sessions is recommended, yet all are welcome to join at any time throughout the course. Please see the sidebar to register.

  • Jacob Miraj Dominicus
    Jacob Miraj Dominicus

    Jacob Miraj Dominicus, co-Madar-ul-Maham of the Inner School of the Inayatiyya, helps people deepen their meditative practice. Jacob has been a murid of the Inayatiyya since 1997, served on the Inayati Order Board of Trustees under Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan and Pir Zia Inayat Khan, and helped start Suluk Academy serving as its inaugural administrator. In 2007, he graduated from Suluk’s Kafur class. Since 2015 Jacob has co-led retreats with Gulrukh Patel at the Zenith Institute in Switzerland. He currently serves as the co-Madar-ul-Muham of Inayatiyya Inner School (Oceania and North America). Professionally, he consults with corporate teams and teaches meditation. Jacob holds a B.A. from NYU in Organizational Behavior, Narrative Theory, and Mysticism and has been a Visiting Scholar at NYU Tisch’s Interactive Communications Program (ITP). He lives in Los Angeles, where he studies the Chinese martial arts of Xingyi and Bagua and lives with his wife, daughter, and two cats.

    LatifaNoor Anderson

    LatifaNoor Elizabeth Anderson is a graduate of the Na Koja Abad Global Suluk Academy class, Vice President of the Music Activity for Oceania and the Americas, a Representative in the Inner School, Musical Representative, spiritual guide, retreat guide, and center leader for the Light of Harmony Center, Inayatiyya of Dobbs Ferry. She is also a cellist and vocalist; her Indian raga studies inspired the CD LatifaNoor, a synthesis of Raga and Western classical music for cello, voice, and tampura. As a cellist she has toured China, Japan, Mexico, Italy, England, Germany, Finland, Australia, Israel, India, and the US with the Meliora and Cassatt String Quartets and with the New York City Opera. She has recorded for Telarc, Nonesuch, and RCA and her next recordings will feature sacred vocal music for retreat.
    When not traveling for concerts or leading alchemical singing retreats, LatifaNoor loves walking in nature with her basset hound Ruby, cooking for family and friends, and knitting socks.

  • Nizam un Nisa Ayeda Husain
    Nizam un Nisa Ayeda Husain

    Nizam un Nisa Ayeda Husain is a senior teacher and guide in the Inayatiyya. A long-time journalist specializing in Sufism with a double masters in journalism and Near Eastern studies from NYU, she teaches Sufi meditation, chanting, and philosophy with a special emphasis on Rumi’s poetry as a means of healing and evolving. Ayeda has run Sufi centers in her hometown of Lahore, Pakistan; in Dubai, where she once lived; and in Oakville, Ontario where she lives and works. She has led spiritual retreats worldwide, taught Sufi meditation to Buddhist monks in Tokyo, and has been invited to the United Nations as part of an international delegation of spiritual leaders.

  • Omid Safi
    Omid Safi

    Omid Safi is a teacher in the Sufi tradition of radical love and founder of Illuminated Courses & Tours. His online, video-based courses range from Sufi approaches to the Qur’an to Rumi. He is a professor at Duke University specializing in Islamic spirituality and contemporary thought. His Memories of Muhammad is an award-winning biography of the Prophet Muhammad. His most recent book is Radical Love: Teachings from the Islamic Mystical Tradition. Omid is also deeply committed to liberationist prophetic traditions in the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, and Malcolm X.
