Shaikh-al-Mashaik Mahmood Khan
Shaikh-al-Mashaik Mahmood Khan, born into a family deeply rooted in Sufi tradition, was raised in a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western cultures. His father, Shaikh ul-Mashaik Maheboob Khan, succeeded Hazrat Inayat Khan as the leader of the Sufi movement between 1927 – 1948. Growing up in this inspiring Sufi tradition, Shaikh al-Mashaik studied musicology and History of Ideas at Leiden University while receiving training in Sufi practices and philosophy from his father and uncle. He has become widely recognized as an expert in the teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan and is frequently invited as a speaker and teacher. He currently serves as the main advisor to the Shaikh-ul-Mashaik Maheboob Khan Foundation in The Hague, overseeing public events, private appointments, and communication. He is responsible for preserving his father’s rich legacy, which includes Indian and Sufi songs, an extensive archive of Sufi documentation, and a vast library on Oriental and historical subjects. He also represents the Sufi foundation 1923 of which Pir Zia Inayat Khan Maulabakhsh is the President.
