Queer Pride Gathering
Saturday, March 26th, 3 – 4:30pm EST
Calling all travelers on the Sufi Path who identify with one or more sexual and gender minorities (LGBTQIA2S+, lesbian, gay, bi, pan, trans, queer, intersex, two-spirit, asexual, androgynous, questioning, gender non-binary, gender-fluid, gender-queer, +).
We had two delightful gatherings on 27 June & 23 November 2021, and are meeting next on Saturday, 26 March 2022.
For this particular gathering, we will begin with Sound & Breath practices to tune in more deeply as we co-create a safe and supportive Heart space. We’ll pursue our focus on Queer community building within the Inayatiyya, getting to know one another better by sharing about our journeys, our successes, and our challenges with honoring our queer selves within the context of our Spiritual Path. We will work to clarify what we hope to receive from each other, as well as what we might possibly offer the group and the larger Inayatiyya community.
While this is a free gathering, please register using the link to the right of this page. A Zoom link will be sent in the confirmation you receive upon your registration.
This gathering is specifically for those who identify as queer/2SLBGTQIA+. If you are an Ally or a friend, we respectfully ask that you don’t register for this event. We still feel the need to spend time among ourselves, building a strong and supportive Heart Container, before we open the circle to the larger community. We deeply appreciate your love and support and will be planning some mixed gatherings in the future.
If you have questions about this gathering, please do not hesitate to contact us at astana@inayatiyya.org. We will help connect you with the organizers.

Mumtaz Kammerer
Mumtaz Kammerer, a murid since 1976, lives in Baltimore, Maryland. He spreads the Message of Love, Harmony, and Beauty as a representative and guide of
the Inayatiyya Inner School, the center leader for Sufi Order Baltimore, a
Universal Worship siraj, a Sufi Healing Order conductor, a Ziraat farmer, a
Knight of Purity, and a certified leader of the Dances of Universal Peace. He
currently serves on the Universal Worship board of trustees and on the
Knighthood Council, and formerly served on the board of trustees for Sufi
Order International and the Abode of the Message. Retired from a career in
management, Mumtaz enjoys spending time with his husband of 43 years,
gardening, and volunteering as a docent at Evergreen Museum and Library. -
Muiz Brinkerhoff
Muiz Brinkerhoff has been a murid since 1975, and is a leader and guide in the
Ruhaniat living in Santa Rosa, California. For the past 43 years he has led
the Dances and Sufi Practice at seminars, camps, and retreats around the
USA, in the UK, Europe, and Africa, as well as via Zoom. His particular
approach to Waking Up combines embodied practice, cultivating kindness
and a radiant attitude, taking personal responsibility for integrating
psychological shadow issues, apologizing for mistakes, and above all, not
taking self too seriously. His 46-year practice is deepened by a variety of
life experience and interests. Artistically and creatively, he has danced
Hawai’ian Hula, created Tiffany-style stained glass, and is constantly expanding his extensive photography portfolio. These experiences, leavened with a keen appreciation of the absurd and some irreverent humor, help him avoid getting stuck in two of the major pitfalls on the Path—ungrounded ecstasy and joyless sobriety.
