“Meshk” means music practice. Come join a circle of musical friends gathering to learn compositions from Hazrat Inayat Khan’s 1912 masterpiece The Minqar-i Musiqar.  

We are blessed to be led by renowned singer and fellow traveler Aziza Rekha Bhardwaj, who brings her expertise and devotion to the songs. Each week we will study a new song. All are welcome, from beginners with no musical experience, to professional musicians trained in Indian raga.

Sessions are from 11:00 – 12:00 pm New York Time, 5:00 – 6:00 pm Central European Time via Zoom. 

This course requires advanced registration and provides video recordings if you are unable to attend every class. A suggested tuition of $24 ($8 per class) is recommended for the whole course. There is also a limited income/student tuition rate of $12 ($4 per class). Attending all sessions is recommended, yet all are welcome to join at any time throughout the course.     Aziza Rekha Bhardwaj

    Aziza Rekha, a seeker on the path, is trained in Hindustani Classical Music under Guru Pandit Amarnathji of the Indore Gharana. Her inner journey started with an album of Sufi poems “Ishqa Ishqa” (2002) penned by filmmaker, poet Gulzar and composed by filmmaker, composer Vishal Bhardwaj initiating her into the world of Sufism which became a way of life. An opportunity in film, “Omkara” (2005), earned her success as a playback singer in the Indian Film Industry. She has won a prestigious National Award and two Filmfare Awards for her songs. She has a distinctive soulful voice which leads one to a touch of Divinity. Her daily riyaaz heals her. Music is Ibaadat to her. She was initiated by Pir Zia in July 2020, is a Salik in the Suluk Global class, Na koja abad, and has been working on songs from Murshid’s Minqar i Musiqar.  Her music can be heard on Spotify, Instagram and YouTube.

    Sara Tarana Jobin

    Sara Tarana Jobin is the Inayatiyya’s Music Director and Emeritus Vice President of its Music Activity. Professionally, she has a long career as an opera conductor and continues to freelance professionally. As a student of Sufism since 2010, and graduate of Sulūk Academy, she is dedicated to reviving and sharing the musical legacy of Hazrat Inayat Khan with all who find a home in his teachings.
