Inayatiyya

“The objectives: to realize and spread the knowledge of unity, the religion of love and wisdom, so that … the human heart may overflow with love, and all hatred caused by distinctions and differences may be rooted out.”
— Hazrat Inayat Khan

The Inayatiyya* is a global organization dedicated to the Sufi Message of Hazrat Inayat Khan, who first introduced Sufism to the Western world in 1910. The Sufi Message proclaims the knowledge of divine unity—of all peoples, all religions, and all existence—and the religion of the heart awakened to the beauty in all creation.

*Inayat is an Arabic word meaning ‘kindness’ or ‘grace.’ In a spiritual context, it refers to the compassionate grace of God bestowed upon creation. It is also the given name of the spiritual founder of the Inayatiyya, Hazrat Inayat Khan. Among Sufis, lineages of spiritual teaching and practice often take their names from their founders. Thus, the lineages which trace their origins to Hazrat Inayat Khan are generally known as Inayati lineages. The Inayatiyya is the name of the organization representing the Inayati lineage passed directly from Hazrat Inayat Khan to his son, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, and currently led by his grandson, Pir Zia Inayat Khan.
