Inayatiyya International Board Newsletter, November 2024

As the Inayatiyya International Board, we have some news to share with you about organizational leadership changes.

Ophiel van Leer and Rabia Povich are stepping down from their vice president positions at the World Message Council at this time.

Ophiel served as European Vice President of Music for the last four years. During this period, he collaborated closely with Tarana to create a Musicians Guild and develop a Music curriculum. At online and in-person gatherings like the Zenith Camp and the German Spring retreat, Ophiel continuously inspired us with his singing, flute and piano playing, and conducting. Ophiel will be missed as European Vice President of Music, but we are consoled in knowing that his ecstatic music will continue to bring joy to our community.

Rabia has served as Vice President of Kinship for North America and Oceania for six years. During this time, Rabia oversaw an influential anti-racist 21-day challenge, offered online Kinship classes, and created the Earth Responders program exploring Kinship in the context of our place in the living Earth. Rabia also provided valuable facilitation to the Worldwide Message Council. Rabia’s wisdom will remain with our caravan in other capacities. Rabia will hand over to Abdul Hakim Oerton (from Australia), Majid David Vowels (from New Zealand), Khatidja Rodriguez-Ruiz (from the US), and Raqib Jonah Yakel (from the US).

We thank both of them for their dedicated service and look forward to seeing how they flourish on this path.

Deepa Gulrukh Patel,
Chair of the Inayatiyya International Board
